Difficulty: Easy
Bike: Gravel, ATB, or MTB with 1.9" Tires or wider. TUBELESS
Breakdown: Bring out your cold weather gear for this one! Low 30's at night and possible rain, snow, or mud. Of course we hope for the best weather possible, but it's best to be prepared for the worst. That said, you will want to ride a bike with mud clearance and extra packing volume for your larger winter layers. Our most difficult climb will be getting up and over Montezuma Pass. We will have plenty of time to arrive at Parker Canyon Lake for firewood and optional boat rentals. The lake also has a nice and mildly technical 5 mile trail that follows the lakes shore. We will use the same route to return the following day.

Breakdown: This route is very challenging and would not be recommended for newer bikepackers. That said, it's also very rewarding to those who attempt and endure it. This Spring route begins with 31 miles of gravel riding from Patagonia to the San Rafael Valley towards Canelo Pass. Our fast and steady pase quickly slows down as we work our way north to Sonoita via Papago Springs. This being the most challenging part of day 1, the rough and meandering double track eventually leads us to a much needed Copper Brothel Brewery. We then take a safe road east parallel to the highway before crossing the 82 into Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Our camping spot overlooking the grasslands will await for us there. Day 2 will consists of a more challenging climb up Mount Wrightson towards the start of Passage 5. The Mount Wrightston section of this route has steep grades, technical fire road descents, and it presents our highest elevation riding for the route itself. This is where you will appreciate or regret your choice of bike and how much you packed. be prepared! That said, there are two water caches full of water thanks to local trail angels. Once we begin our descent on the south side of the mountain along the AZT, the fun begins as we work our way back to Patagonia. Weather will range from 40's to 89. Sonoita will be our resupply spot on Day 1. It's best to come prepared and resupply accordingly for Day 2 in Sonoita. A mountain bike with plenty of easy gearing would be absolutely recommended for this route but it can be done on a gravel bike or 26" ATB with an experienced mountain bike rider. Lastly, Adobe Canyon, Hog Canyon, and Gardner Canyon can be excellent bail out roads for those who decide they have had enough of Mount Wrightson.

Breakdown: Put it simply, it's going to be hot this time of the year. This is a short, close-to-home overnighter towards the end of the Summer season. Carr is no joke as far as climbs go with a loaded down bike. It has it's rough patches about halfway up, but the views more than make up for it. Luckily, with this being a short route, you can pack light. In fact, there will be a bonus sunset hike for those who still need more of a challenge. This hike involves watching the sunset up at Carr Peak before returning back down to camp. Due to the terrain, grade, and length of the descent back down, we recommend a mountain bike with excellent brakes and reliable tires. If you plan on coming along for the hike, please be prepared with proper hiking shoes, and headlamps. We also welcome anyone who simply wants to drive up and join us for a fun night under the full moon lit sky. See you there!

Breakdown: This trip we will be riding through the Coronado National Memorial towards Parker Lake, and the San Rafael Valley, before hitting Patagonia, & Patagonia Lake. There will be food and water in Patagonia. Finally we will ride pavement towards the lake where we will use a raft to boat into one of the many boat-in campsites. It is important that we know who is able to join this ride to ensure we have enough campsites. The return route consists of more pavement and requires a fort pass to take the shortcut through the fort. The West Side Gate is unmanned and therefore you must already have your pass on hand. To get here we will go back through the SRV before heading north towards Canelo Pass and the 83. See you there bikepackers!

Finally, take the time to load up your bike, ride it, and get a good shake down ride. Get all the issues solved before you go out on your adventure. Being prepared helps everyone make it to camp in time to enjoy it. Please keep in mind that this is a SELF SUPPORTED event open to the general public. We do not charge for attendance, and we do not promise any services as a business during these events. If you are unable to be self sufficient, this may not be the ride for you.
